The Strokes officially announced that guitarist Nick Valensi will step away from the band's upcoming tour, with Steve Schiltz filling in on guitar. This personnel shift comes alongside the debut of their new single, "Falling Out Of Love," which the band performed live on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
While the band navigates lineup changes, podcast hosts are still processing their recent live performances. On Bad Friends, Carlos noted, "It's 'cause The Strokes didn't play long last week, so I assumed it would be the same amount of time." Meanwhile, Bobby Lee focused on the scene at the show, recalling, "And then, uh, when we were watching The Strokes, Josh Adam Myers walks by, like, in the elite area." On This Past Weekend, Theo Von confirmed his own fandom, stating simply, "I went for The Strokes, right?"
Beyond the touring news, the band remains a sonic benchmark for other artists. Kareem Rahma described his own musical output on SmartLess as a "the Pixies meets The Strokes kind of situation." While Albert Hammond Jr. has publicly denied rumors of internal friction regarding the upcoming Reality Awaits album, the band appears to be doubling down on their momentum by expanding the tour to Lima, Mexico City, and Bogotá.
