Chace Crawford appeared on Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard last week to discuss his career, following his attendance at the season five premiere of The Boys at The United Theater on Broadway.
During the interview, Chace Crawford got candid about the psychological toll of his Gossip Girl years, admitting, "Yeah, I became a little bit rabid. I mean, it was crazy for a minute. I remember feeling like a bit of a fraud and like an imposter."
The host was quick to validate his transition from teen idol to prestige TV actor. Dax Shepard affirmed, "I'm gonna give him that credit. Chase Crawford. Chase Crawford is an actor. Gossip Girl, The Boys. The Boys, I love The Boys." However, Shepard also acknowledged the lingering public perception, noting, "Okay, so I'm gonna be dead honest with you. Your fear is a little bit grounded, right? Which is, like, I only know of you as an actor on Gossip Girl at that time."
Beyond the industry critique, the actor maintains a lighter cultural footprint. On You're Wrong About, the fascination remains purely personal, with Blair Braverman noting, "She does still have a crush on Crawford. That's real. He lights up her day." With the series finale of The Boys now in the rearview, the industry will be watching to see if Crawford can fully shed his Gossip Girl shadow for good.
